In a captivating transition from the melodic to the literary, the renowned vocalist Eva Rahman, now writing under the name Eva Arrman, has unveiled her debut collection of poetry, titled Chithi (The Letter). The book was launched at the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela 2026, Bangladesh’s premier literary festival, which was inaugurated earlier this week by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Bangla Academy and Suhrawardy Udyan premises.
Chithi, published by the prestigious house Anyaprokash, is a curated anthology of 48 poems that delve into the sanctuary of the human heart. Each verse functions as a metaphorical letter—some addressed to a beloved, others to the writer’s own soul, and several to the fleeting nature of time itself.
The collection explores the delicate nuances of love, pride, longing, and the subtle complexities of life. Speaking on the inspiration behind the work, Eva remarked:
"A letter represents the words we find impossible to speak, yet which remain etched in our hearts. This book is simply the literary manifestation of those accumulated unspoken thoughts."
Eva Arrman’s foray into the world of literature is deeply rooted in her distinguished family heritage. Her grandfather, Mo. Ibrahim, was a celebrated author in Kolkata, known for his enduring contributions to children's literature. His works, such as Chharaity (1963) and Jalsa (1968), served as the foundation for Eva’s lifelong fascination with the written word.
