Israel and the United States launched a coordinated military strike against Iran on Saturday, targeting multiple strategic sites across the country, including the capital, Tehran. Explosions were reported in various cities, causing widespread alarm.
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) described the operation as the largest aerial offensive in the nation’s history. Approximately 200 Israeli combat aircraft were deployed over western and central Iran, focusing on missile sites and air defence installations.
According to IDF statements, the aircraft dropped hundreds of munitions, striking roughly 500 targets in a highly synchronised assault. The objectives included surface-to-air missile batteries, radar stations, and ballistic missile launch facilities. The operation was executed almost simultaneously across multiple locations to maximise disruption.
“The strike significantly degraded Iran’s air defence capabilities and allowed the Israeli Air Force to expand its aerial dominance over Iranian airspace,” the IDF said.
“Destruction of missile launch centres in western Iran delivered a substantial blow to the regime’s central offensive capabilities.”
In a detailed disclosure, the IDF reported that a missile launch site near Tabriz in western Iran, capable of targeting Israel, was neutralised. The site was reportedly preparing to launch a dozen missiles toward Israeli territory.
The operation relied on high-quality intelligence and precise coordination, with hundreds of aircraft working in unison. Military analysts have noted that such scale and planning mark a historic milestone in Israel’s air operations.
