In a remarkable display of operational efficiency and commitment to policyholder welfare, Zenith Islami Life Insurance PLC has successfully settled a death insurance claim within a mere 24 hours. The disbursement took place at the company’s Basurhat branch in Noakhali, setting a high benchmark for the Bangladeshi insurance sector, where claim processing times have historically been a point of contention for consumers.
The claim followed the untimely passing of Reshma Akhtar, a policyholder who had only recently joined the scheme. Remarkably, Mrs Akhtar had paid only a single premium instalment of 2,000 BDT before her demise. Despite the infancy of the policy, the company moved with impressive speed once the necessary documentation was finalised.
A cheque for the full claim amount of 99,450 BDT was formally handed over to the nominee, Masum Mia, during a dedicated ceremony held at the branch office. This rapid turnaround underscores the company’s "customer-first" philosophy and its adherence to Shariah-compliant insurance principles, which prioritise the financial protection of bereaved families.
The event was attended by several senior executives, reflecting the importance the firm places on transparency and public trust. Mr Md. Arif Hossain, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), presided over the ceremony as the chief guest.
Addressing an audience of over 250 senior development officers, Mr Hossain emphasised that maintaining public confidence is the cornerstone of their business model. He noted that while the industry often faces criticism for delayed payouts, Zenith Islami Life is striving to change that narrative through digitisation and streamlined verification processes.
"Our priority is to ensure that the beneficiaries of our policyholders do not face bureaucratic hurdles during their time of grief," stated a spokesperson for the company. "By settling this claim within a single day, we are reaffirming our promise to provide immediate financial security."
The following table provides a concise breakdown of the claim details and the officials involved in the expedited process:
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Policyholder | Late Reshma Akhtar |
| Nominee | Masum Mia |
| Branch Location | Basurhat, Noakhali |

The ceremony was also attended by Md. Shahadat Hossain (Chief Operation Officer), Md. Nurul Islam (Executive Vice President), and Abul Mubarak Hridoy (Basurhat Branch In-charge and Sales Manager). The presence of such a diverse leadership team suggests a concerted effort by the insurer to boost morale among field agents and demonstrate the tangible benefits of their insurance products to potential clients in the Noakhali region.
